KIDS MAKE US PROUD!
Unknown to many, a football team of around 42 kids (8, 9 & 10 yrs.) forming the Xavier FC from the Xavier School in San Juan will be leaving for Singapore in a few days to compete in the much-awaited Novotel-Anza Soccer International Cup 2009, to be held on April 25 & 26. This 2-day event will showcase the participation of some 700 kids from various nations, and of course, among them our very own. As I watched these kids practice their football skills, already I see in them much enthusiasm and excitement, since most if not all of them will be representing not only their team and their school, but more importantly, their own country. On their faces, one can see that they are already champions. For after all, it all boils down to how you play your game, and not so much winning it. But of course, winning is a splendid achievement. But the manner in how you perform and conduct yourself with unwavering sportsmanship and fairplay tops any gold-plated trophy or medal any day of the week for me.

Also worth mentioning are the equally strong football teams Hedcen and Marist. Both teams, together with Xavier will be carrying our national colors as they compete in Singapore. A proud moment for all football parents involved amongst these three teams.
Here's good wishes to the Xavier FC, Hedcen and Marist. Go kick some balls!
